SNAPPY

So today I was mowing the lawn and then right before my eyes moving very slowly across the lawn was a big turtle. Yes, I'm not lying, a turtle in Nebraska. They are all over the sandhills. This is the 2nd turtle that we've actually found here in the yard. Last night we found a small cute little turtle that we picked up and checked out. It was a very nice turtle. Well this one, was very different. I wanted to catch it so I could show Glen. (He was out moving bulls) So I ran to the vet house and grabbed a little dog carrier that we have. I sprinted back to the turtle and lawn mower and I opened up the cage and bent down to grab the turtle by the shell and BAM! the turtle went pop!!!!! I'm not sure exactly what it did, but it really did sort of POP! So it freaked me out, so I thought what am I going to do. So I tried again but POP! it freaked me out again. Yes this turtle wasn't that big, but it had big claws and a SNAPPY mouth, so I was a bit scared. So I ran and grabbed the broom, and I swept it into the cage and shut it in for a little while. Then Glen came and I showed him. He was very impressed that I caught it, and so he did the same as me, tried to pick it up and POP! and then a AHHHHHH! from Glen, it freaked him out too. So we observed the turtle for a bit, named him Snappy, and took a few pictures and then we released him. It took the turtle a little while to figure out where it wanted to go but then it was out of sight. Crazy.....turtles in Nebraska. WOW! Oh and by the way, the lawn looks GREAT!
