NIKOLAUS DAY!

we celebrated nikolaus day the morning of december 6 with vince, mckee, and ulie.
here's a little description:
In Germany, many children put a boot called Nikolaus-Stiefel (Nikolaus boot) outside the front door on the night of 5 December. St. Nicholas fills the boot with gifts and sweets overnight, and at the same time checks up on the children to see if they were good, polite and helpful the last year.If they were not, they will have a tree branch (Rute) in their boots instead. Sometimes a disguised Nikolaus also visits the children at school or in their homes and asks them if they have been good (sometimes ostensibly checking his golden book for their record), handing out presents on a per-behavior basis.
so we set our boots out sunday night and woke up to this!!!

mckee really loves oreos. and i love giving them to him. i think he's hilarous!!!
we're getting excited for christmas to come. we've been decorating the house, making and taking sweets, and wrapping gifts. we're excited to cut down our christmas tree on saturday. it will be ulie's first time!!!!
it's been fun to share traditions with ulie and learn about her's! we're happy she's here to share this christmas with us!
